  01. What qualifications should one have to apply for homestay?
Our homestay in China program is open to people of all ages and nationalities. While it is especially geared towars college students, it is open to anyone who wants to learn more about China from within. We ask that all of our applicants be open minded people with a reasonable command of the English language.


 02. Are accomodations included in your fee?

Yes! The placement fee covers all of your basic expenses while in China. There is nothing else that you need to pay for other than your own expenses when you eat outside on your own or buy gifts, etc...


 03. What kind of visa do I need to do a homestay in China?
A tourist visa. You should head out to the closest Chinese embassy and ask for a trourist visa that covers the length of your stay. If you come for more than 3 months and you plan on taking some part time teaching jobs, we will take care of changing your visa from tourist to business.


 04. What kind of accomodations should I expect?
Generally speaking, you will have your own private bedroom in a relatively upscale home with all the wwestern ammenities you are accustomed to. All our homestay families are carefully screened to ensure your safety and they rank amongst the elite of China.


 05. What city would I be in?

Most of our families are within Hebei province. It is occasionally possible to place people in other provinces such as Hunan, jiangsu and Shandong.


 06. Can I change families to visit more cities?

Yes! We ask that you stay with a family for a t least a week or two so that each party can get used to the other and open up more to facilitate cultural exchanges and communications.


 07. What is I don't get along with the family?

While this has never happened before, it is not a problem. Insight.China will arrange for a new family for you to stay with.


 08. Are homestay opportunities available s all year round?

Yes! Anytime of the year is a good time.


 09. How much money should i bring?
This really depends on your spending habits! as a rule of thimb, the more time you spend with the family, the less money you will need to spend. Most of time, The families will take offense if you try to pay for anything in their presence. We advise that you budget for about USD 300 for gifts and personnal spending. Bring along a VISA ATM cards that you can use for emmergencies.


 010. Can I get a part time job while doing a homestay?
If you are planning on an extended homestay (2 months or more), it is sometimes possible to get a part time tutoring position to bring in some extra cash. Note that these short term teaching gigs do not usually pay very well and can be sacrce at times.


 011. What qualifications do I need for an internship in China?

Again, it depends on the kind of internship you are interested in. Usually, people will try to get an internship in related to their field of study. This usually means that they are qualified by defaults. For cultural internships (arts, teashops, restaurants...) all you need is an interest in the field. We ask that all applicants have a practical command of the English language to facilitate communication with their collegues.


 012. What kind of visa do I need?

We recommend that you contact your closest Chinese embassy and obtain an F (business) visa valid for the length of your stay. It is also possible to come in using a tourist visa that we will upgrade once you land in China.


 013. Are accommodations included in your fee?

YES!!!


 014. What city will I be in?

This will depend on the kind of internship you're interested in. Most of our companies are in Hebei province or in Beijing.

015. What kind of accommodations should i expect?
This will depend on the kind of internship you're interested in. In most cases, you will live with the artists or the business owners. If you choose an internship in a hotel, you might live within the hotel. Either ways, your accommodations will be private with access to hot water and western toilets.

016. Are these paid internships?
In 90% of the cases, our internships are non-paid! There are of course a few exceptions but they are far and in between.

017. What if I don't speak Chinese?
This should not be a problem for the basis internships. Also, you will be provided with the opportunity to learn Chinese and further communicate with your colleagues. Many people speak English in China and there should be one or two people to guide you around.

018. What are my responsibilities as an Intern?
It depends on the internship you apply for. for cultural internships, you will be considered more of an understudy so your responsibilities might increase as you get more comfortable with your environment.
